Axe throwing is the new sensation in American Fork, Utah.

Our Story

It all began when we started throwing axes.
A few years ago, we went out with family and friends and threw axes together; we were instantly hooked. From that day on we always looked forward to the day when we would get together again and throw store-bought axes at tree stumps and makeshift targets.

We were just a group of people who enjoyed throwing axes as things. We didn’t have any training or experience, so we taught ourselves and we probably looked pretty funny doing it. The problem was that there wasn’t anywhere for us to go to learn properly or enjoy axe-throwing without driving into the mountains.

It was tough. We didn’t know anyone who could teach us, so we had no idea if we were doing it right! Many weird looks, broken axes, and minor injuries later, we knew we had to do something different.

One day it dawned on us, why aren’t there any business in Utah that provide cheap, fun, and safe options for axe throwing? Outside of particularly ill-advised boy scouts and adventurous families, there was nowhere for someone to go hurl axes at the wall after a hard day at work without appearing on the local news.

We weren’t the only ones. Everyone we talked to about axe throwing wanted to try it, they wanted to join in! Soon our group of wannabe-lumberjacks was too big to travel and play together.

That’s when we decided to start Phat Axe. It’s a company run by enthusiasts who started out just like you. We just have a passion for the sport and want to share it with everyone we meet. We understand what it’s like to throw axes for the first time, and we strive to make sure everyone feels welcome and loves it as much as we do. We don’t want you to feel the need to buy expensive equipment, or spend the weekend teaching yourself, so we created Phat Axe to be the kind of place you want to come back to.

I has been a long journey for Phat Axe since 2017 when Nate Stutz decided to open Utah county’s first Axe throwing and smash room venue. The Owner and founder Nate Stutzs has decided to pursue  different things and has transfer the lease and dissolve the parent company Phat Axe LLC. Phat Axe as of 04/01/2020 has closed down. The new company is Axe N Smash. The St George location is no longer affiliated with the American Fork Location. However, we are still dedicated to providing the same amazing experience with axe throwing and Smash rooms as Nate was.  we have shadowed learned everything from Nate, and we are proud to carry on his legacy. Axe N Smash is no longer accepting gift certificates from the old company as of 07/30/2020.

The New owner is a proud resident of Utah county and is dedicated to serving the community as well as the owner of Secret Combinations Escape Rooms. Axe N Smash has expanded to offer Escape rooms and is currently working on the development of splatter rooms. we are excited for the community to try out these new sources of entertainment. Axe N Smash will maintain all branding of the previous location. All prices have been maintained, and you will even see the same employees. We are excited to see the beginning of this new chapter even with COVID 19 still an on going issue for the country. We are working to sanitize everything between customers. We have expanded the knife throwing collection to more popular items. We plan to Revamp and expand on Nate’s original branding. we plan to improve the Axe throwing experience, and expand our smash rooms to accommodate larger groups due to customer requests.

07/01/2021

We have expanded to a second location in South Jordan Utah. the location will have Gen 3 smash rooms and the latest axe throwing technology that has not been in Utah until now. The location will have Axe throwing, smash rooms/ Rage rooms and Paint Splatter rooms.
